Sound recording or dubbing is a process during the post production of a medium where music, sounds, atmos and soundscapes are added. For example, films require a post-dubbing of individual dialogues if the circumstances on the film set did not allow an excellent sound recording. During the process of dubbing, sound effects and sounds are replaced or added to achieve a consistent and aestheticized sound.

The process of transforming literary pieces of art to music was especially common in the Christian and occidental music tradition. Classical music, especially Baroque, dubbed choral music with bible verses. In the era of Romanticism a lot of poems and other literary texts were transformed into songs.
